Job Description

Responsible for:

• Assessing risk (underwriting), servicing and developing complex Casualty & Financial Lines products
• Handling complex accounts and providing technical guidance to the team
• Assessing new business leads from Brokers and quoting the appropriate terms and conditions to ensure a good quality and profitable book of business
• Assessing renewable accounts to ensure Company standards of underwriting are maintained, broker relationships are looked after and the appropriate loss ratios achieved, thus producing a profitable account; ensuring retention levels reach Company targets
• Cooperating with sales relationship managers for the development of strong broker relationships which lead to an increased level of engagement

Technical Skills and Expertise

• Bachelors’ degree preferably in Insurance, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or Business Administration
• 6-8 years of previous experience in an underwriting position, preferably in Casualty / Financial Lines is a must
• Underwriting & Marketing Strategy proven knowledge and practice/ Risk Analysis and Pricing skills
• Executive Presence; personal capabilities such as composure, credibility and clarity are considered valuable assets
• Portfolio Management ability
• Drive for Results
• Advanced Social Skills; someone who is an influencer; resilient; team player and proficient at building and maintaining strong relationships
• Excellent command of English
